Luka Doncic is only 20 years of age, but he carries himself like a grizzled vet in the NBA.

The second-year player has become a fan favourite of Dallas Mavericks fans and many around the league. Even with all his success in the NBA he still seems to be grounded.

On Sunday, Doncic met a very young fan that he helped. Kris, just 22 months old and from Doncic’s home country, suffers from a rare disease called 1 spinal muscular atrophy and Doncic helped raised over $2.2 million on behalf of Kris’ family so that he could receive treatment at UCLA.

The meeting came with the Mavericks in Los Angeles to take on the Lakers.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Doncic was just one of several Slovenian celebrities who heard of the family’s crowdfunding campaign and aided their fundraising to help cover treatment and living expenses in LA. The treatment alone costs mover than $2 million.

The meeting must have fired up the Slovenian because he finished with a game high 27 points and 10 assists for a double double, leading the Mavs to a statement victory over the Lakers. The victory ended Los Angeles’ 10-game winning streak and moved Dallas into fourth in the West.

Not only does Doncic average a 30-point triple-double in a month but he has shown what kind of man he is, and that is a good one. That is more important than anything he could do on the court in a game.
