Jon Jones will defend his title against who he wanted to face.

The UFC light heavyweight champion with face Dominick Reyes in the main event of the UFC event that will take place in Houston, Texas on February 8, 2020.

Jones, who is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the promotion, had a variety of options on who to face for his next title defense, including Reyes, Corey Anderson and Jan Blachowicz.

It was earlier in November that the 32-year old champion tweeted that the undefeated Reyes is the “most dangerous fighter” after studying his potential opponents with team.

Jones is coming off a split-decision victory over Thiago Santos in July to bring his record to 25-1 with a no contest. Last December he defeated Alexander Gustafson to regain the vacant 205-pound title before earning a unanimous decision win over Anthony Smith in March.

Reyes, who sports a 12-0 record, most recently knocked out former champion Chris Weidman in the first round of their October fight for his sixth straight win inside the Octagon.

The event that will feature the top light heavyweights has yet to be labeled due to the uncertainty around Conor McGregor’s scheduled return. Currently, it is targeted for January 18. If the Irishman does return, his card will be UFC 246 and Jone’s will be UFC 247.

The Houston card is also expected to have Valentina Shevchenko defending her UFC flyweight championship against Katlyn Chookagian.
