The Philadelphia Eagles swooped in and re-signed free agent running back Jay Ajayi on Friday.

Ajayi has been recovering from a torn ACL and has not played this season.

Earlier on Friday, the Eagles announced that they had lost Darren Sproles for the season due to a hip injury and that Jordan Howard had yet to be cleared for contact after suffering a stinger in his shoulder in the November 3rd game against the Chicago Bears.

Injuries are mounting up for Philly who have rookie Miles Sanders and second-year pro Boston Scott as the only two healthy options in the backfield.

Ajayi played in a total of 11 games for the Eagles during the 2017 and 2018 campaigns, racking up 592 yards and four touchdowns on 115 carries. That works out to 5.1 yards per carry.

The 26-year old, who put quill to paper on Friday, suffered the season-ending knee injury in Week 5 of the 2018 NFL season.
