McMaster’s men’s rugby team opened their OUA campaign on the road Sunday against a tough RMC Paladins squad.

The Marauders would break the match open in the second half, on their way to a resounding 48-12 victory.

The visiting team in maroon held just an eight-point lead at halftime, with RMC scoring a late try in the first to make it 15-7. However, the Marauders went on to score 33 points in the second half to the Paladins five for the season-opening victory.

Fly half Nathan Pinder, a rookie with the team, began his career at McMaster with two tries in the victory while veteran Tyler Gagne also picked up a pair of tries in the match.

Crossing the try line once in the match for the Marauders was Ryan Matthews, Aidan Muldoon and Jack McRogers. Cole Brown would score 13 points in the match, converting five times and making a penalty goal.

The Marauders will play their first home match of the season on Saturday, September 14 when they welcome the Brock Badgers to Back 10 Field. The match gets underway at 3:00 pm.
