McMaster’s soccer teams hit the road for the first time in 2019 and picked up a pair of victories over the Laurier Golden Hawks.

The women’s squad picked up their second win of the season, outscoring Laurier 2-1. The teams would combine for 29 shots on net, but it was the Marauders who were putting them on net as 12 of their 15 were on net compared to Laurier’s six of 14.

Hannah Chau-Stacey opened the scoring in the 38th minute for McMaster. The Marauders would take a two-goal lead on Lindsay Bosveld’s goal in the 59th minute of the game.

The loan Golden Hawks goal came in the 64th minute when Gagan Parhar found the back of the net.

In the men’s match, they were able to put Saturday’s draw behind them and rebound to shutout Laurier 2-0.

Antonio Sereno picked up the first goal in the 23rd minute of the game and then Nicholas Matsos added an insurance marker in the second half at the 58th minute.

Like the women’s match, there were a lot of shots towards the nets, but it was the Golden Hawks who had 24 shots, with Mac keeper Tristan Joyce stopping the nine on net for the clean sheet victory.

McMaster stays out on the road and will face the York Lions on Thursday, September 6th in North York, Ontario. The women’s match will kick off at 6:00 PM while the men getting underway at approximately 8:00 PM.

The teams will return home to Ron Joyce Stadium on Sunday, September 8th to host the Western Mustangs starting at 1:00 PM.
