We knew it was coming, DeMar DeRozan knew it was coming, but I don’t think he knew how big it was actually going to be.

Raptors fans finally got to welcome back DeRozan to ScotiaBank Arena and to thank him for nine memorable seasons with the organization. He helped to put the Raptors organization back on the map and make it one of the places that free agents had to look at as a possible place to play.

The first ovation of the night came when he stepped onto the floor during warmups. It was a loud pop with the building still filling up. Then came the starting lineup where he got another loud ovation.

However, the biggest pop of the night came during the first media timeout where the Raptors saluted their former player with a video tribute. ScotiaBank Arena rocked from the standing ovation that was being given to their former leader. It was one that no fan wanted to end.

While their still might be some hard feelings about the trade out of town, DeRozan knows that the city of Toronto, and Raptors fans from coast to coast, still love him. And from his comments earlier in the day he still loves the city and the fans.

Onions baby, onions!

I mean the onions around here are bad, I have tears in my eyes.
