A happy wife usually leads to a very happy life and Manny Machado knows this.

So, don’t be surprised if he signs with the New York Yankees if his wife Yainee tells him that is where he should go.

Mrs. Machado has a strong influence on her hubby’s decision and is very enamored with New York City, so it would be no surprise if that helps Manny decide where to sign as a free agent.

The Yankees recently signed shortstop Troy Tulowitzki ad have Miguel Andujar, a third baseman, on the roster but they are still deep in the Machado sweepstakes. What could be the only thing to keep New York from being Machado’s destination is his reported $220 to $270 million price tag, especially if it is in the upper half of that range.

After meeting with various teams throughout December, it appears his decision is down to three teams, the Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox.

The 26-year old reportedly prefers to play for New York, but Chicago recently made an offer and has traded for Yainee’s brother, Yonder Alonso. The White Sox have also reportedly signed Machado’s close friend Jon Jay on Monday which could help to lure the free agent to the Windy City.

In the end, money will be the likely deciding factor in where Machado signs. That bodes well for Philadelphia, who are ready to spend after already committing $73 million to Andrew McCutchen and David Robertson this offseason.

Machado is coming off an All-Star year where he had a .297 batting average with 37 home runs and 107 runs batted in over 162 games.
