Indians A Win Away From Tying Moneyball A’s

The Cleveland Indians won their 19th consecutive game on Monday night, as they shutout the Detroit Tigers 11-0.

With the win, the Indians move one victory away from tying the 2003 Oakland Athletics for the longest winning streak in the past 50 years. The latest victory was a total team effort. Carlos Carrasco threw six shutout innings, allowing eight baserunners while striking out nine batters. At the plate, Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez combined to knock in seven runs.

Tuesday will see Cleveland’s ace Corey Kluber take the mound against Matthew Boyd which is a mismatch.

However, it doesn’t really matter that much who is on the mound as the defending AL champions are steamrolling over opponents, outscoring them 132-32 during the streak which includes six shutouts. Over the past three weeks Cleveland has trailed in just a total of four innings.
