McMaster Weekend Roundup – September 8 to 10

While the Marauder football and soccer teams were playing at Ron Joyce Stadium on the McMaster campus this weekend, various other teams took their respective field off campus.

The OUA baseball season kicked off this past weekend with the young McMaster Marauder team picking up two wins in four games. Both wins came on Saturday when they defeated the Ryerson Rams 10-0 and 12-7 in a doubleheader. The second game of the doubleheader saw Mac down by three runs headed to the top of the sixth but a six-run inning catapulted them to the victory.

The next day the team headed out on the road to face a powerful Laurier team. Laurier outscored Mac 20-2 in the two games. McMaster would only strikeout seven times in the doubleheader on Sunday.

Over the weekend the team had 36 hits with 10 of them for doubles led by Lucas DaSilva, Jackson McIntosh and Johnny Martino who each had a pair. Michael Campagnolo led at the plat for Mac going six-for-15 over the four games with a double, a walk and a run batted in.

Next game for the baseball team is Saturday at noon when they host the Western Mustangs at Bernie Arbour Stadium at the Mohawk Sports Complex.

Joining the baseball team is starting up their season was the Women’s lacrosse team who faced the Guelph Gryphons and Laurier Golden Hawks at Brock University on Sunday. The team dropped the first game of the season to the Gryphons by a score of 7-4. Unfortunately, the score for the second game of the day against Laurier was not posted to the OUA website and no scoring information is available at this time.

Rugby – Men (OUA)
After having a low scoring affair with the Western Mustangs on Labour Day the Marauders traveled to Justin Chui Stadium to face the Trent Excalibur this past Saturday. When they pulled out of the stadium they had upped their record to 2-0 on the season with a 48-19 win.

Leading the way for the Marauders were Max Pinkerton with a pair of tries, while Clayton Pendakis, Jeremy Hennessy, Cam Elliot, Tyler Ganger and Connor Byrne each had one.

Next game at home at Back 10 Field against the defending OUA Champion Guelph Gryphons at 2 PM on Sunday.

If you’ve got nothing better to do. OK, so maybe even if you do. Wouldn’t you rather talk sports, post pics of games, solve sports quizzes, and redeem loyalty points for free stuff? Of course you do. And why wouldn’t you! Your mother-in-law will get over that nasty fall. The garbage? You get used to the smell. If you’ve got the time, fansfrenzy is the place to waste it.
