Pierce will be the first player to be honoured since 2003 and the 22nd player in franchise history to have his number raised.

Drafted by Boston in 1998, Pierce played 15 seasons for the Celtics. John Havlicek is the only player to have played longer in the Celtics uniform. Pierce helped the team win its NBA-record 17th title in 2008 and was named the MVP of the finals that year.

Pierce leads the franchise in three-point field goals, free throws and steals and is second on the team’s career scoring list with 24,021 points. His number has already been retired by the University of Kansas.
