Trade Talks Heating Up
in Dallas

The National Hockey League Draft goes tonight in Dallas and talks between teams are heating up. We could see some deals tonight. While this is a weekend about the future of the NHL with players like Rasmus Dahlin, Brady Tkachuk and Noah Dobson, but the draft is always full of trades. That is part of the intrigue of the NHL’s Draft. Where there is some wheeling and dealing on draft day in other leagues, some will not allow players or picks to be drafted during a certain period of time during the day. Over the years we have had some big names on the move and this year will likely be no different. With names like Erik Karlsson (OTT), Ryan O’Reilly (BUF), Jeff Skinner (CAR) and Max Pacioretty (MON) being available, we could see a big name on the move. Even P.K. Subban’s name has been floated around but it is doubtful Nashville would part ways with him unless they got a huge blockbuster deal.

There is a possibility of some teams trading away their first-round picks to get picks later in the draft. One of the teams could be the New York Islanders who have the 11th and 12th picks. It would not be a surprise to see them deal one of those picks for a player or a couple of picks in the later rounds. As for Leafs fans that have been asking, it is likely Kyle Dubas will be quiet in the trade department. However, we cannot rule out him moving the 25th pick overall to try and get two or even three draft picks in the second and third rounds to stock up on players. Dubas was involved in this back in 2015 where they picked up Travis Dermott who is expected to be on the team’s blue line next season.

While we can expect some surprises at the NHL Draft what we won’t be surprised with is who will go first overall. There is little doubt that the Buffalo Sabres will take Dahlin to start the draft tonight. Join the Fans Frenzy Loyalty Team in the Sports Chat room tonight during the first round of the NHL Draft.
